Pauline Deltour

Pauline Deltour’s gentle, modern aesthetic and her curiosity to learn about new crafts have made the French designer a wonderful collaborator for ames.

This collaboration started with a journey: Pauline accompanied ames founder Ana Maria Calderón Kayser on a trip to Colombia to visit different workshops and ateliers. She got to see how the craftspeople work with the fibres of the fique plant to create beautiful objects.

Born in Landerneau, France, Pauline Deltour set up her studio in Paris in 2011. Interested in the contrast of rigour and finesse, she sees her designs as an expression of her own personality.

Precise lines characterise her shapes, which she elevates by carefully choosing materials and colour, so form and surfaces enhance each other. Pauline draws inspiration directly from the materials and their characteristic properties to develop shapes that combine function and a sensual poetry.

She’s interested in creating products that make a strong first impression but also invite people to be curious about the finer details of an item – no matter if that’s a small stool or a large standing mirror.
