During Milan Design Week 2026, AMES unveils AMAZONIA, a sculptural stacking chair designed by Cristina Celestino, presented inside the brand’s Giardino Segreto in Brera. The piece is a contemporary homage to the Colombian orchid, whose leaf structure and graceful unfolding inspired its soft, enveloping form. Celestino describes AMAZONIA as opening “like the wings of a butterfly”, a design that captures weightlessness and translates the botanical delicacy into a refined architectural gesture. The chair embodies an atmosphere of lightness, intimacy and vibrancy, reflecting the rich chromatic world of Colombia. Handcrafted by Colombian artisans, AMAZONIA is the result of a collective dialogue between cultures and generations. Cristina Celestino is one of the most prolific contemporary Italian designers. Born in Pordenone and educated at the IUAV University of Venice, she founded Attico Design in 2011 and her own studio in Milan in 2013 – a city that continues to inspire her work. Her signature style blends soft curves, pastel hues, and subtle references to Italy’s rich design heritage. Her creations – spanning furniture, interiors, and installations – are defined by geometric precision, material exploration, and a touch of irony. She merges historical influences with modern aesthetics to create emotional design visions that resonate globally.
